1st of June is always a remarkable date for Ashton and I, as that is one of our "anniversary". This year, Air Asia and 8TV Quickie make it even great! Ashton received a call from the PIC from 8TV Quickie, he was chosen as the winner of 8TV Quickie-Air Asia British Moto GP contest!
Shocked!!! Happy!!! Excited!!!
When Ashton called up and informed me about the news, I shouted and replied him : "Are you kidding me?!!!"
YES, YES, YES, it's REAL! We are going to London!!!
Is an all expense-paid trip to London and Silverstone track for the Air Asia British Moto GP! Oh GOSH! We are going to touch down at the home ground of motorsport - Silverstone, simply awesome and this is hardly to imagine!
Received our itinerary from 8TV Quickie PIC - Mr. Helmi assisted by Air Asia PIC - Ms. Anita and Ms. Natasha two days before departure. A pair of Air Asia X return flight tickets with pre-purchased 15kg of luggage each person! How generous you are, Air Asia!
We packed our bags and set to go!
Met up with Ms. Natasha at LCCT, just right before check in, and here comes a surprise!
Air Asia British Moto GP goodies bag!
Each one of us get a lovely special edition Air Asia British Moto GP bear, Air Asia British Moto GP T-shirt, Air Asia British Moto GP cap, Air Asia British Moto GP lanyard, Air Asia British Moto GP jacket!
After checked in, we directly enter for immigration checking. We were traveled together with a group of young, hot and pretty Air Asia stewardess, winners from Air Asia group and the parents of Zulfahmi Khairuddin (our very own 125CC driver sponsored by Air Asia). Sharp at 3.00pm, Air Asia X flight D72008 departed directly to the Stanstead Airport, London.
Is a long haul flight, so we decided to order the in flight entertainment. Oh my! It is such a hot selling cake! We only manage to get one as there are out of stock. So, it is advisable you pre-book online.
We ate, we slept, we watch.
We manage to watch 3 movies: Black Swan (5 star rating!), Due date (5 star rating, must watch movie! Laugh till you drop!) and The Lovely Bones (True story and "Susie" is potentially another Dakota Fanning to me.).
After an almost 14 hours flight, we safely touch down at London Stanstead Airport. Local time clocked 9.45pm. We were shocked as we stepped out from the plane. The night is still young! The sky just looked like 6.30pm in Malaysia, can you imagine that? However, we was told that this is very normal during summer in London.
Had a long queue at the immigration check-in. It took us a about an hour to clarify ourselves.
After collected our baggage, we waited for the Air Asia representative near the entrance area.
Saw some men holding the bouquet of flower, waiting for someone special to arrive, lovely!
Please queue here for public transport such as airport express and airport coach.
Our bus!
Run baby run, is chilling outside!
After about 50 minutes drive from the airport, we checked into our hotel - Corus Hotel, London Hyde Park.
Don't be surprise to see the room is less spacious compare to Malaysia's. You must knew the fact : every inch of London City cost a piece of gold! ^_^
We had standard twin room with two single bed overlooking the streets of London, with wifi, safe and working table. The best part: bed and pillow were just so comfy! The room most likely cost near RM500 per night of stay. Phew~~
We were greeted by the sandwiches in our room, with 4 different flavours : egg mayo, cheese, chicken and pork. Awesome! A nice supper before bed time, a great stimulus after long haul flight!
The hotel famous with the opera - dinner @ Restaurant Bel Canto. You dine and watch opera, and the actors / actresses might just come over to you and sing in front of you!
Comfortably with an iron board, a "wardrobe", LCD TV, and a working table.
Toiletries.
Our room for three nights.
Twinings tea, anyone? London famous with the tea, must try!
Woke up 6 in the morning, and this is how the street looked like. Bright!
Simply love the gorgeous morning!
Imagine this : You woke up from your comfortable bed, you head down to the windows and you pushed the windows. You breath in...hmm....FRESH AIR and chilling! The experience : Priceless!
The hotel provided two types of buffet breakfast : English breakfast and Continental breakfast.
First day, we tried the continental breakfast as the chef is a Malaysian.
They served mee-hun and noodles (rice is not a popular item in Western country), grilled mushroom, jumbo and juicy baked tomatoes, omelet, baked beans and fried eggs.
Not forgetting about the pastries, breads, and assorted cheese. Cheesy ~~
Self-mixed yogurts, assorted raisins, plums, fruits etc...topped with cranberry and mango syrups, sweet and sour.
Try to stuff this into ONE human body...
Corus Hotel, London Hyde Park.
Ready to explore London for second time.
Baby taxi taxi oh...don't you know i will never say never to take you?
Lancaster Gate is the nearest tube station to head to.
Who doesn't love to dine in such a beautiful terrace cafe?
Our first TUBE station. Preparing to have marathon walk in London City babey!
Bought our travel card for ZONE 1-2 cost about 6.30 pounds. Unlimited travel between Zone 1-2, which most of the attraction in London were covered inside these zones.
I must praised that London City has a very well developed public transport system, especially the TUBE (underground). You will never get lost with the sign board. It will lead you to the destination precisely.
Doo doo......the train is coming!
Ashton looked very happy wearing the Air Asia British Moto GP jacket.^_^
Some controversy over the China politic. I'm not into it. But i love the panda.
First building out of TUBE. Gradually, we found that most of the building in London City are so classically stunning.
@ Lombard street.
Felt like back to the past... ...
Wondering why the street sounds so quiet? Because everyone is going for the Queen's birthday celebration!
This is the place we want to be : The Monument.
The Monument is very near to the place where happened the 1666 London Great Fires.
The Monument built as a permanent memorial to the London Great Fires.
Find out more on The Monument here.
As we walked, we found this! Toilet at the road side! Sounds something like the KL city pay to use toilets. But this is very interesting as it pop up in the middle of the road.
Blue building : Barclays building.
I love the setting of London cafe. Classic and elegant!
Hmm...where are we heading to?
Nice statue.
Tower Vaults.
Tower Hill. Now you see the Sun.
Now you don't. This is London, babe.
Opening ceremony by the Queen.
Roar~~~
Fearsome Three.
He ain't a guard. He is the attraction at the entrance : checking your tickets & promoting you to buy the entrance tickets. ^_^
Blooming garden.
Who don't love lavender?
Tower Bridge.
Testing camera. ^__^
City Hall, where i attended the London 2012 Olympic exhibition two years back. The interior has step free spiral type walkway (ascending / descending). Argh...is too special, i don't know how to describe it!
